Epe- Ijebu Ode Road Rehabilitation To Commence Soon- Abiodun

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has assured that work on the 13.4 km Epe-Ijebu-Ode road would start immediately after the raining season.

Prince Abiodun, who made this known at the Eighth Day Fidau prayer in honour of former Deputy Governor of the State, Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye, who served under the administration of Chief Olusegun Osoba, between 1992- 1993, said he remained committed to the promise made to the people of the State to be just, free and fair.

The Governor noted that his administration was considering rehabilitation of inter-state roads, which would attract investors as well as ease the movement of people and improve the economy of the State, disclosing that he and his Lagos State counterpart had written to President Buhari, to release the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta and Ikorodu-Sagamu Roads to them, with the aim of commencing work on the roads.

“I want to tell you that myself and the Lagos State Governor met with the president and asked that the roads should be given to us, so that we can collaborate with the private sector and finish it on time”, he said.

The Governor commended President Muhammadu Buhari for mandating the Inspector General of Police to provide helicopter in the pursuit of kidnappers who kidnapped people along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, adding that the move assisted the police and vigilante groups to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victims.

In his remarks, former Governor of the State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, who described his late deputy as a worthy lieutenant, commended the Governor’s request to the Federal Government for the repair of Federal roads linking the State with Lagos.

The Moyegeso of Itele, Oba (Engr.) Mufutau Kasali described the late politician as a man of honour, whose love for his people cannot be quantified, adding that his death was a loss to Itele and the Ijebu East Local Government.

Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ijebu Mushin Central Mosque, Imam Sarafadeen Sulaimon, said the late Alhaji Ogunleye was a man who loved his people and held the development of the State as a priority.
