Towards repositioning Education in Ogun State, regular evaluation and assessment exercise in schools has been identified as important and indispensable to the sector
This summation was made during a training program for Quality assurance officers the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, State Universal Basic Education Board,SUBEB and the Teaching Service Commission by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary, Secondary and Technical Education Mrs Ronke Soyombo at Lisabi Grammar School Idi Aba Abeokuta.
According to Mrs Soyombo, Quality Assurance is for the evaluation and monitoring of best practices in education, she added that quality assurance officers have to be abreast of the changes in education which have become dynamic as time passes.
She said the training became expedient because quality assurance officers are the accountants of education and the department are to act as the auditors therefore it isbaimed at preparing their minds on what is expected of them in the discharge of their duties .
While assessing the special Adviser admonished them to be people of integrity who can be relied on to give concise, factful reports in their evaluation and be objective in line with the statutes of the profession.
She advised officers to strive on self evaluation and improvement as well, by constantly and consistently researching on updated roles of quality assurance officers. She insisted that their appearance was also of key importance in their functionality as quality Assurance persons.
In their separate good will messages permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Permanent Secretary Teaching Service Commission and Board Secretary State universal basic education board SUBEB, Quality assurance officers were charged to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties as the needed improvement in the education sector was also dependent on them.
