Professionals in the building sector have been advised to affix their stamp and seal on all documents to be submitted to government for Planning and Building approval processing.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL Olatunji Odunlami disclosed this while receiving members of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Ogun State Chapter in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying the step was in line with the “Building Our Future Together” agenda of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration, to curb quackery in the sector and prevent unnecessary loss of lives and property in the State.
TPL Odunlami noted it was important for registered Town planners, Builders, Architects, Engineers and others in the sector to use their professional stamp and seal before submitting any document for building approval processing, to eradicate the menace of quackery and sharp practices.
While emphasizing that no application or technical report for planning and development permit would be processed without signature stamp and seal, he called for the cooperation of all professionals in the field, to move the State forward in terms of Physical Planning and development.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman Nigerian Institute of Architects, Ogun State Chapter, Arc. Oladipo Sulaimon appreciated the State Government for its assurance to curb sharp practices in the profession, adding that the body was fully in support of the decision to implement practicing license by consultants in the profession.
