Trace Corps Begin Campaign Exercise To Contain COVID-19

Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), has begun massive enlightenment campaign for commercial transport operators on the numbers of passengers to convey as directed by Governor Dapo Abiodun, in order to contain the deadly disease Covid-19 in the State.

The TRACE Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer, ‘Seni Ogunyemi, stated this while speaking with journalists during monitoring of the sensitization exercise at garages across Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.

He added that tricycle should carry only two passengers, Okada rider should carry only one passenger, taxi driver should carry two passengers at the back and one at the front, adding that transportation system could be very susceptible to the spreading of the disease.

The TRACE boss advised union leaders at inter and intra state to embark on subjecting drivers, conductors, as well as passengers to temperature check and ensure any abnormality was reported immediately to appropriate authorities before embarking on any trip.

The TRACE Commander, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government in his remark said the campaign exercise became imperative in order to contain the spread of Covid-19, mandating Okada riders and the passengers to always use nose cover.

He added that drivers and conductors should also wear hand gloves and nose masks while the trips last, saying these measures apply to all vehicles, either commercial or private.

“Windows of vehicles should be wind down to allow free air circulation when applying these measures, with minimal use of air-conditioned system, unless where it becomes absolutely inevitable”, Ajibade said.
