Ogun Receives Rice Production Equipment

Towards enhancing the capacity of the state in rice production, Ogun state government through the ministry of agriculture has taken delivery of rice production equipment donated by the federal government.
Receiving the equipment in Eggua farm, commissioner for agriculture in Ogun state Dr Adeola Odedina revealed that the state has cultivated over twenty hectares of land to serve as a model for anyone interested in farming in the state.
Eight out the twenty local governments in Ogun state have comparative advantage in rice cultivation and coupled with the milestones recorded by the current administration in investing in the agriculture sector, the donation of this rice production equipment which will further help in having more locally produced rice on the tables of many Nigerians, a no doubt well placed.
The equipment comprising a tractor and rice planter, a fully installed rice processing machine,  four power generators, water sprinkler, rice perboiler and others will help farmers in Eggua improve their farming activities.
Commissioner for agriculture in Ogun state Dr Adeola Odedina said the equipment will position the state for meaningful contributions to the nation’s quest to achieving self sufficiency in rice production.
Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on agriculture Dr Adelaja Kuye stated that the equipment will create more opportunities for the youths to benefit from the value chain in rice production.
Permanent secretary in the ministry used the opportunity to reveal the plan of the state to involve more youths in agriculture.
Representative of the federal ministry of agriculture appreciated the state for prioritising food production.
