Humanitarian Day: Mrs. Abiodun Appreciates Covid-19 Response Team

In commemoration of the 2020 World Humanitarian Day, the Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has commended aid and health workers, in the frontline of Covid-19 response in the State, extolling them for the dedication and tireless efforts to continuously provide life-saving support and protection to humanity.

Represented at the event in Abeokuta by Wife of the Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Mrs. Oluwaseun Kadiri, Mrs. Abiodun emphasised the significance of joining the rest of the World in recognising the invaluable support of health workers towards protecting the citizens in need during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

According to her, “there was need to align with the strategic priorities of the Global Humanitarian Response Plan to Covid-19, articulated in three key areas which were, containing the spread of the pandemic, decreasing morbidity and mortality, decreasing the deterioration of human assets and rights, social cohesion and livelihoods, as well as, protecting and advocating for refugees and the vulnerable”, she added.

Mrs. Abiodun, while presenting letters of appreciation and cash gifts to the heroes, assured of State government’s commitment towards supporting them with required resources and assistance.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker in her goodwill message praised the frontline workers for their dedication and team spirit with which they all worked, to combat the pandemic in the State, calling on them not to rest on their oars to serve humanity.

In his address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Adesanya Ayinde, while lauding Mrs. Abiodun for recognising the contributions of the frontline workers, pledged continued commitment of the staff of the State Ministry of Health to the wellbeing of the citizenry, thanking God for ‘’His intervention in Ogun State, despite recording the index case of Coronavirus’’.
