Nigerian Idol 7: Adekunle Gold, Kingdom thrill audience as David Operah bows out

Just as the seventh season of the Nigerian Idol itches close to an end, Nigerian Idol season 6 winner, Kingdom Kroseide, and second runner-up, Akunna Okechukwu recently showed up to an excited studio audience.

The stars from last season’s show in a quick chat with IK on stage talked about the impact of the show on their careers and announced that they would be releasing new singles soon.

To crown the performances from contestants, Kingdom thrilled audiences with a performance of his new song, Shey You Go Dey.

Midway into the show, musician Adekunle Gold surprised his wife, and one of the judges, Simi, with a birthday cake. The two shared a loved-up moment to the admiration of the audience and viewers.

Meanwhile, one of the fans’ favourites, David Operah has bid his luck to win the seventh edition goodbye as he exited the show after his votes appeared the lowest out of the 22 million votes for last week.

Now down to the top six contestants, IK Osakioduwa, announced Banty, Faith, Jordan, Itohan, Progress, and Zadok as leading contestants in the race to be crowned Nigerian Idol season 7 winner. Last Sunday’s live show opened with the contestants delivering a colorful performance of D’banj’s 2013 hit song, Oliver Twist.

The theme for the night was ‘Afrobeats’ and the top six contestants took the stage to perform their selected songs with hopes of earning the judges’ nods and viewers’ votes.
