The Governor of Ogun State has affirmed that the public primary and secondary schools in the State becomes a better choice for parents and guardians who desired quality, affordable and good standard of education for their wards.
Prince Abiodun gave this affirmation during the relaunching of Saka Taiwo Scholarship Scheme held at Isoyin Grammar School, Isoyin Ijebu to the fresh graduates of the school that just gained admission into University.
The Governor said good and conducive learning environment, qualified teachers, well equipped laboratories, international standard libraries and many more have been provide to further improve the standard of education in the State.
Governor Abiodun who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science & Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu explained that the systematic implementation of Ogun State Education Revitalization Agenda (OGSERA) which premised on six pillars, such as; Curriculum Design, School Management, Revenue and Funding, Technology/Innovation, Infrastructural Development, Teachers and Students Welfare has led to various transformation experiencing in the State’s education sector.
“While coming on board in May 29, 2019, our administration declared emergency in the education sector to enable us reposition the worrisome situation in the sector and now with the introduction of OGSERA, we have been able to record massive infrastructural development and digital transformation in the education sector”, Abiodun said.
The number one citizen in the State while commending the founder of the Scheme for the generosity, enjoined students to reward each generosity bestowed on them with good performance.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Principal of Isoyin Grammar School ( Senior), Mr. Rasheed Lamidi expressed gratitude to the Prince Dapo Abiodun government for the infrastructural development and digital transformation of teaching and learning through OGSERA, appreciating the Old Student Association of the School for their resolute commitment to the academic development of learners.
Speaking, the founder of the Scheme, Mr. Owolabi Taiwo said the scheme was set up to meet the financial requirements of the fresh graduates of the school who have successfully secured admission into Nigerian Public Universities.
One of the beneficiaries, Julius Oyeyemi, a final year student of Economist, Tai Solarin University urged students to work hard in order to excel in their studies.
