Super Eagles seek to end five-match winless steak against Sierra Leone

The Super Eagles will look to end their five-match winless run when they take on the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Abuja on Thursday (today).

The three-time African champions are yet to taste victory since the 2-0 win against the Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau in their final group game at AFCON 2021.

Since then, the Super Eagles have lost three and drawn two of their last five games.

Newly appointed head coach, Jose Peseiro has a full compliment of all the invited players at his disposal and would be confident of steering the team to a perfect start in the qualifiers.

Peseiro himself lost his first two games in charge of the team and is desperate to prove he is the right man for the job.

Nothing but a win in this highly anticipated encounter will endear the Portuguese to the teaming Super Eagles supporters.

The Super Eagles were held to a 4-4 draw by the Leone Stars the last time both teams met in November 2020.
