Ogun State Commissioner Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat has said the government will not relent in supporting the traditional institution, to enable it to carry out its functions effectively.
Hon. Hamzat made this known during a visit to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona in Ijebu-Ode, noting that the roles of the institutions could not be underestimated.
The Commissioner stated that it was imperative to familiarise himself with the highly revered monarchs and solicit their advice, support, cooperation and prayers, assuring that the present administration would continue to sustain the mutual relationship with the Council of Obas.
He said, “it behooves me to pay homage to the paramount rulers in the State, as a way of familiarising myself with the highly revered monarchs and solicit their advice, support, cooperation, and prayers, towards having a successful tenure at the Ministry”.
Responding, Oba Adetona pledged his continued assistance to the Ministry and the present administration, urging Hon. Hamzat to build on the achievements of his predecessor and do more for the benefit of the people.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Emiola-Gazal said the Commissioner was a seasoned political administrator, who had held several positions of authority in the State, enjoining him to use his wealth of experience in his present post, to deliver more dividends of democracy to all and sundry.
