School Resumption: OGSG Monitors Schools, Promised Improved Infrastructural Development

Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has gone round schools to monitor the level of preparedness as schools resumes for the new academic session.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu who led the monitoring team to schools in the Abeokuta, Ijebu and Remo axis of the state said he was impressed by the level of readiness in the schools visited which showed that the series of meetings held with school managers in ensuring smooth take off of new academic year has been adhered to.

Arigbabu revealed that the visit was to also ascertained the level of infrastructural support needed to be put in place by government, he explained that though some of the schools have provided the ministry with the infrastructural data, there was need for the ministry to also find out for themselves what needed to be done in some of the schools.

“I am impressed by the level of preparedness and readiness in all the schools visited, it shows that our principals and teachers are ready to take off on a smooth note for the new session. We also intend to use the opportunity of this exercise to see the level of infrastructure support needed to be put in place in all our schools. Some of the infrastructure exercise is ongoing, distribution of furniture is also ongoing in our schools”, he said.

The commissioner reassured that effort of government in the education sector would continue to be work in progress until it has achieved the level of desired standard, he therefore encouraged the learners to be of good conduct and performance, positing that continued efforts in their studies would yield results of excellence in the future.

In their remarks, the Principal, Remo Secondary School, (Senior), Mrs. Olubunmi Shuaibu and Agunbiade Victory High School, Mrs. Christianah Odeyele said the schools had resumed fully and ready to ensure smooth teaching and learning activities for the session.

Schools visited in Ijebu axis includes, Molipa High School, Our Savior Anglican Primary School, Italowajoda, Wesley Primary School, Moslem Primary and Comprehensive High School, Ijebu Ode, in Remo: Soyindo Community High School and Remo Secondary School while in Abeokuta, Folarin Dalley International School and Agunbiade Victory High School, Magbon were also visited.
