Injured popular players that will miss 2022 FIFA World Cup

The biggest tournament in the world of sports is less than 30 days away and several players have been ruled out due to injuries.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to start on 16 November, less than a month away, and unfortunately several big name players will miss the tournament due to injuries. The latest player that suffered a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a calf injury is Diogo Jota over the weekend in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

On Tuesday it was confirmed that the Liverpool ace will miss Portugal’s World Cup campaign next month and he joins a long list of big name players that will not reach full fitness in time.

The leagues in Europe’s top tier will pause one week before the start of the World Cup and hopefully no other player is added to the list because it can change the aspirations of each country to have a successful tournament.

Georginio Wijnaldum
The 31-year-old left Paris Saint-Germain and joined AS Roma during the summer in search of more minutes to reach peak form ahead of the World Cup. Unfortunately Georginio Wijnaldum sustained a serious injury just days after his debut with the Serie A side and he was ‘emotional and sad’ after learning that he will not be included in the Netherlands World Cup roster.
