The Ogun State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro has tasked those saddled with the responsibility of leadership not to be concerned only in work output but have keen interest in the well-being of their staffers.
Dr. Aigoro made the call during an unscheduled visit to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the State government in Abeokuta, advising top management staff members in the State Civil/Public Service to continue to lead by example, pay periodic checks on their subordinates, and provide adequate welfare for them while at work.
The Head of Service emphasised the essence of being dutiful at all times, to enable them monitor punctuality, absenteeism among the workers, saying the visit was embarked upon without prior notice to make him see the workforce in its actual form .
He expressed deep satisfaction with all that he met on ground, adding that the workers had displayed good conduct worthy of emulation and called on them to keep such up.
At the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Board Secretary, Mr. Wasiu Kuye, who received the Head of Service lauded the Head of Service for the visit, saying it shows why workers should be up and doing at their duty posts.
At the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government, Dr. Aigoro described the work environment as acceptable and second to none, with a charge on the workers to keep the flag flying.
Received by the Auditor-General for Local Government, Mr. Lamidi Mulero, the number one Civil Servant, who assured that the government would continue to prioritise workers’ welfare, as well as meeting their demands, urged the agencies to intensify efforts in the implementation of government’s policies and programmes, saying ”we are here to encourage, support and commend you for discharging your duties with utmost professionalism’’.
The Head of Service also visited the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Ministry of Transportation and Bureau of Local Government Pensions, among others.
In their separate responses, the Permanent Secretaries in the Transportation Ministry and Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Mmes Olusola Osasona and Olubukola Adeniregun respectively, applauded the Head of Service and his team for the visit, pledging not to relent in carrying out their statutory duties diligently.
