The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, has commended his colleagues in the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures across the Federation on the unity of purpose exhibited during the seamless passage of bills seeking a change of name from Egbado North and Egbado South Local Government Councils to Yewa North and Yewa South Local Governments in the just concluded Fifth Alteration of the nation’s constitution.
Oluomo, gave the commendation while presiding over the plenary upon resumption of the Assembly’s activities from a recess at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Congratulating the residents of the Local Government Areas, the Speaker noted that the change which was overdue would further sustain the unique identities of the councils.
In another development, the Speaker has directed that necessary administrative mechanisms be immediately put in place towards ensuring a smooth compilation of handover reports and documentation of the legislative legacies of the Ninth Assembly, which would in turn bring about a smooth transition between the present legislature and upcoming legislative session.
Consequently, Oluomo informed Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government to ensure timely preparation and submission of the Year 2023 First Quarter financial reports to the Assembly for the exercise to commence in earnest.
The Speaker also challenged his colleague-lawmakers to ensure the entrenchment of the principles of accountability, probity and transparency with value for government resources during the budget performance assessment exercise.
