Ogun State Pilgrims who are currently performing holy pilgrimage in Mecca Saudi Arabia has joined the rest of Nigerians to mark the celebration of June 12 as democracy day with a special prayers for the repose of the soul of the winner of the June 12 1993 presidential election chief Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola 30 years after.
Gbenga Adekoya who was with the team in Saudi Arabia report that the prayers which was organized by the State Muslim pilgrims welfare board saw some key members of the board praying fervently and as well speak on the Islamic perspective of the life and times of chief mko Abiola.
Speaking on the significance of the day and what brought about the special prayers the chairman of the Ad-hoc committee of the State Muslim pilgrims welfare board Dr Tajudeen Asaye and member of the committee Alh Tunde Oladunjoye who doubles as the chairman information management committee said Chief MKO Abiola was a true icon who laid down his life for true democracy.
Pilgrims from Ogun State are currently at SURAKAT ALKHAER hotel one of the biggest and closest to Haram along Rear Bash area of Mecca Saudi Arabia.
