Ogun Screens Teachers, Schools For 2023 Presidential Excellence Award

Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has conducted screening exercise for teachers and schools of various categories in the State for the forth-coming 2023 Presidential Excellence Award.

Speaking in Abeokuta during the exercise, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Abosede Edun said the award was based on five categories which include Best Teacher (Public Primary, Junior and Senior Schools), Best School ( Public Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools).

Others are Best Administrator,(Public Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools), Best Teacher, (Private Primary and Secondary Schools) and Best School, (Private Primary and Secondary Schools), saying the aim was to give opportunities to stakeholders in public and private schools to contest, adding that successful participants would represent the State at National Finals.

Ogunleye said ” The award was part of the reform programme on the adoption of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO landmark recommendation on the Rights, Responsibilities, Renumeration and Overall Status of Professional Teachers”.

The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Comrade Dr. Felix Agbesanwa applauded the Ministry for a free and fair exercise, saying it would serve as motivation to teachers to continue to put in their best in teaching professions.

Two of the participants, Mr. Musiliu Aderibigbe and Mr. Temitope Olaoluwa from Ahmadiyya Comprehensive High School, Ogun Water-Side and Akin Ogunlesi Model Secondary School, Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State respectively, commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led Administration in the State for it’s credibility and transparency during the screening exercise.
