Ogun State government has revealed that it would continue to accommodate mechanisms and initiatives from the private sector that would take the education sector to a greater height. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the promise while meeting with the representatives of the Ogun-Guandong Free Trade Zone and Heads of tertiary institutions in the state at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, noting that synergy between the Ministry and the group would enable teachers and learners in the state have access to international engagement and equip them in vocational skills.
Prof. Arigbabu intimated them of the commitment of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration towards providing traditional apprenticeship skills to upskill those in the informal sector, adding that start-up kits and funds would be provided to sustain and make them self-reliant.
Speaking earlier, the Deputy General Manager, Ogun-Guandong Free Trade Zone, Mr. Kevin Liu, said the company was ready to engage tertiary students in online classes, to enable them to learn and master the Chinese language, vocational skills and technology.
He disclosed that 50 best students would be offered scholarships in China, in any course of their choice, including free airfare and others.
