In his interest to promote effective and productive teaching and learning and to fill up the vacancy in the teaching sub-sector in the State, the Ogun State Government, has issued employment letters to another 498 Interns.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu during the distribution of the letters to successful interns in Abeokuta explained that the appointment was the fulfillment of the directive of Prince Dapo Abiodun to recruit more teachers into the teaching system in the State.
Prof. Arigbabu disclosed that the newly recruited teachers have served diligently and meritoriously for the period of two years and have gathered much experience that could help them become successful teachers, enjoining them to continue to be hard working, diligent and put in their best in the teaching service of the State.
He noted “266 Interns were given permanent appointments into Secondary Schools through Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), 187 injected into primary education under the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), while 45 were employed into the 5 Government Science and Technical Colleges for productivity and desired outcomes”.
The Commissioner disclosed further that the cut off points for the new candidates to be recruited into Ogun State Teaching Experience and Acquisition Channel (OgunTEACh) is pecked at 30 with strict consideration on the subject advertised, saying anything less than that does not merit the standard required.
In their remarks, the Chairmen, Trade Union Congress, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Noah Sewakanu, represented by his Deputy, Comrade OLUFEMI Okulalu and Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Comrade Dr. Oluwaseun Agbesanwa appreciated the government for making the appointment void of partisanship and partially, urging the beneficiary to teach well so as to avoid intellectual genocide.
Appreciating the Governor on behalf of others, Mr. Solomon Taiwo from Egbado region, Yusuf Muritala of Egba axis, Mujidat Ogunyombo from Sagamu, Adenike Abass of Ijebu region and Mutiat Ajayi a Special Needs person commended the present administration in the State for keeping to its promise, as they affirm their commitment to the teaching profession.
