In its interest towards upgrading the capacity of teachers for excellence performance, the Ogun State Government has trained not less than 60 teachers and technical Instructors of the Government Science and Technical Colleges on the 21st Century Classroom Methodology.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu during a 2-day Pedagogy Training for the teachers and technical Instructors, organised by Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB) underscored that the programme was to train teachers on how to integrate technology into classroom systems for better output.
Prof. Arigbabu explained that teachers needed to be empowered with necessary requirements for them to be able to deliver and make learners understand the content of the teaching and to know how to manage teaching and learning in the classroom.
“I congratulate the participants. I also appreciate the facilitators for helping the government to give teachers required knowledge that will make them excellent in the discharge of their duties”.
Earlier, the Acting Executive Secretary, Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB), Mr. Olubori Akinleye noted that the training was put in place to make teachers in technical colleges, especially the newly recruited understand the rudiments of teaching that can help them become better teachers.
Speaking, one of the Resource Persons, Prof. Adekunle Bamiro stated that the participants were trained on what is expected of a qualified teacher such as, study of the curriculum, evaluation, school management and teaching methods, noting that if they can understand the process, they will be effective and efficient as classroom teachers.
Appreciating the organizers on behalf of other participants, Mr. and Mrs. Margaret Adeoye submitted that the training have improved their knowledge and equip them on how to handle learners with different learning abilities.
