Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, has reiterated his commitment to serve with equity, diligence and carry everyone along towards a collective responsibility of building the state together, in tandem with the Governor Dapo Abiodun administration’s ‘ISEYA’ developmental agenda.
Mr. Onasanya made this known during separate courtesy visits from the management teams of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), led by the Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi and Board’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Mukhail Lawal, respectively, in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
He said his appointment was ordained and therefore cannot afford to disappoint the confidence reposed in him, expressing the aspiration to build solidly on the legacy left behind by the State forebears, in order to take the Civil Service to greater heights.
The number one Civil Servant stressed the need to patronise local ‘Adire’ fabric, assuring that circular letters would soon emanate from his office to discourage workers from purchasing adulterated fabrics, to preserve the heritage and grow the economy.
“You will recall that the State Governor, Prince Dapo, has continued to canvass for the patronage of the local fabrics. The ‘Adire’ textile industry at Asero was an eloquent testimony of the present administration’s resolve in this direction. I therefore, enjoin workers to join the vanguard of saving the local ‘Adire’ fabric from imminent bastardisation by foreign competitors by not patronising the foreign ones at the expense of our locally produced ‘Adire’ fabric”, he said.
The HoS tasked the Ministry to embark on advocacy in that regard, stressing the need for the documentation of the rich cultural heritage of the state, especially great works of art, such as folklore, songs and others, both in print and electronic forms for future generations.
Mr. Onasanya equally encouraged the leadership of SUBEB to always endeavour to lay a solid foundation for the pupils and nurture them to become responsible citizens.
In their separate remarks, Hon. Fagbayi and Dr. Lawal congratulated the HoS, praying for him to achieve more than his predecessors and succeed in all his endeavours during his tenure, while the presentation of their congratulatory messages in roller flex form followed.
