In its bid to ensure effective utilisation of allocations to Local Government Areas in Ogun State, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has embarked on a tour to Ijebu-Ode and Remo North Local Government Area to inspect and monitor projects being executed in the areas.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, said the tour would cover all the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State, to ensure that all the approved projects were carried out for citizens to benefit from the dividends of democracy, create more opportunities for economic growth, social development, as well as increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, Hon. Hamzat noted that the projects were embarked upon to enable people have more access to essential social amenities to make life comfortable and thrive in the present economic reality in the country.
While inspecting the construction of 16 lock-up shops, renovation of the Local Government Secretariat and a block of four classrooms with office at Isiwo Primary School and other facilities at Oke-Oyinbo Primary Health Centre, in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the state, the Commissioner assured the people of government’s commitment to addressing critical needs of its citizens by embarking on realistic and sustainable projects that would enhance the overall development of the state.
Remarking, Executive Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, Hon. Babatunde Emilola-Gazal, said the projects were means of complementing the present administration’s ISEYA mantra in the grassroots, promising that more dividends of democracy would be extended to other areas of the LGAs.
Hon. Emilola-Gazal enjoined beneficiaries to cultivate a maintenance culture to keep the facilities in good shape.
Other projects to be commissioned soon include, 140 solar light, water project at Arawa and Eti-Tale in Ijebu-Ode and a first set of 80 lock up shops.
Also, the monitoring team, in company of the Chairman, Remo-North Local Government Areas, Hon. Adedapo Odunsi, visited Orile-Oko, Sofidipe to inspect drainage construction and 18 open stalls.
In their separate remarks, the Chairmen, Hons. Emilola-Gazal and Odunsi, appreciated the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his support, promising to complete other projects in the LGAs, as soon as funds were available.
Reacting, two residents of the areas, Mr. Damilola Soyinka and Mr. Fedrick Adeigbe, appreciated the Chairmen for embarking on the projects, noting that the initiative would improve their living standard.
