Government housing estates must have title documents such as, Land Title, Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), Building Permit and Building Approval to distinguish it from other estates.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl Tunji Odunlami, stated this during a visit by the Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi and management staff of the Ministry to his office, at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying proper planning, due process and quality assurance were crucial in the built industry.
Tpl Odunlami pointed out that it was imperative for his Ministry to synergise with Ministry of Housing for the commencement of the new Ibara GRA Regeneration Scheme and realisation of effective housing delivery, in line with ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda of the present administration.
He assured of achieving holistic transformation of the new city through installation of necessary modern infrastructure like gas pipeline, internet cables, among others, while water pipes must be put in place during the construction to avoid breaking of ground after completion of the Scheme.
The Commissioner appreciated his counterpart for collaborating to create smart cities across the state since the inception of Governor Dapo Abiodun in office.
“We are connected; we are regulators and you are builders. The vision on tenacity of purpose to good governance and public fulfilment shall be realised. We will support Ministry of Housing but due process will be followed for the sake of the beneficiaries of the programme”, he said.
Earlier, Jagunmolu Omoniyi emphasised that the new Ibara initiative was to create another city where people can live work and play, as well as enhance the economic value of the state.
“This is a project of the Ogun State government. It is important to intimate the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development on every stage of housing projects embarked upon by the Ministry for proper professional advice”, he said.
Contributing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Revenue Generation, Mrs. Oyindamola Oyelese, called on the Commissioner for Housing to prioritise the revenue aspect, as the location of the land was premium and geared towards boosting the economy of the state.
On his part, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Engr. Muritala Adekunle, appreciated the collaboration enjoyed so far.
