Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has commended the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on the satisfactory conduct of the 2024 May/June West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Prof. Arigbabu gave the commendation while monitoring the Examination centres in the Egba axis of the state, noting that, “the paper started on time, all candidates are well arranged in well-ventilated examination centres, adequate question papers and answer sheet supplied, teachers and invigilators are fully on ground to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise”.
He applauded the students on punctuality, comportment and for dressing properly, enjoining them to avoid all forms of cheating and malpractices, be focused, adhere to all instructions and rely on what they have read, so as to come out in flying colours.
Arigbabu informed that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s investment in qualitative, affordable and accessible education, as well as other interventions in the sector was yielding desirable results, expressing confidence that the candidates’ outstanding performance was inevitable.
“Overall, I am satisfied with what I saw, I wish all the students well in this examination, looking forward to a fantastic result, I’m sure Ogun State will do very well compared to other states”, he said
In their separate responses, the Principal, Abeokuta Grammar School (Senior), Idi-Aba, Mr. Oludare Sorinola and Principal, African Church Grammar School (Senior), Ita-Iyalode Owu, both in Abeokuta, Mrs. Matilda Adebanjo, said students prepared well for the examination, adding that the exercise had been hitch-free so far.
Other centres visited were, Government Science and Technical College, Idi-Aba, Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Baptist Girls College, Idi-Aba, Baptist Boys High School, Oke-Saje and St. Peter’s College, Olomore, all in Abeokuta.
