The Ogun State Government has admonished various companies within its 20 local government areas to prioritise qualified residents of their host communities for job opportunies to further promote cordial relationship in the locations of their operations.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela when he hosted the Management staff of Hayat Kimya Nigeria Limited, led by its Country Manager, Mr. Omotayo Olatunji, in his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Sofela, who expressed delight with the decision of the parent country of the multinational to make Olatunji the first indigenous Country Manager, described the move as a demonstration of trust which must not be taken for granted.
He said the determination of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government in Ogun State to creating an environment where businesses will thrive remain unwavering, pointing out that the huge investment of the State government in security is a reference point.
The Commissioner, who underscored the benefits of corporate social responsibilities, said companies should seek to know the need of their host to ascertain areas of intervention without having to think for them.
He assured that the on-going infrastructural revival in the three senatorial districts of the State would further help companies to transport their goods without hitche.
“We really appreciate your parent country for the trust reposed in you. It is a pointer to their confidence in Nigeria and Ogun State.
“It is indeed important for various companies operating in our State to prioritize qualified residents of their host communities. It is a way to promote cordial relationship and tackle unemployment,” he said.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, said Ogun as the industrial capital of Nigeria would not leave any stone unturned towards promoting shared prosperity, pointing out that the Ministry as a major stakeholder in the affairs of businesses in the Gateway State would always be eager to interface with relevant government agencies to address issues affecting industries.
Earlier, the company’s Country Manager, Mr. Olatunji commended the present administration for its various policy initiatives which he said are in the right direcrion, just as he described Ogun as one of the safest states in Nigeria.
