A superlative performance earned OGTV a 5-1 victory over their counterparts from Federated Chapel in the first round of the ongoing SWAN Media Cup at Funturf, MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
Forward David Babadina opened the scoring early in the game with a cutting-edge strike. The rain of goals came in the second half with four solid goals: two from seasoned midfielder, Ope Adesina, one more from the new kid on the block David Babadina, and another from the old warhorse Ife Soluade.
The tactical acumen of Coach Seyi Alao increased the tempo of the game with the introduction of Moses Ojewumi, Yemi Olatunji, and Temi Awolaja in the second half.
Worthy of note is the performance of goalkeeper David Ojo, who almost kept a clean sheet until a flying freekick beat him at the near post.
Coach Seyi Alao acknowledged OGTV management, led by Tunde Kassim, for their support, promising more to come from his side.
“It was a tension-soaked match. We started slowly, missing a trio of chances, but we’ve always believed in the structure and quality of our team.”
“I acknowledge the management of OGTV for the immense support. We see ourselves as ambassadors and we will do everything in our power to bring the trophy home.”
OGTV will face Federated Chapel in a return leg on Monday, June 10th, 2024, at 11 a.m.
