PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU TO MEET ORGANIZED LABOUR FOR MINIMUM WAGE DISCUSSIONS

President Bola Tinubu has scheduled a meeting with the Organised Labour in Abuja on Thursday to engage in further discussions regarding a new minimum wage for workers in Nigeria.

According to a reliable source within the labour community, the President has extended an invitation to the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) for the meeting, which is set to take place at the Aso Villa in the nation’s capital.

During the meeting, President Tinubu is expected to deliberate on the government and private sector’s ₦62,000 proposal, as well as the Organised Labour’s demand of ₦250,000.

This gathering, scheduled for Thursday, comes approximately a month after the President announced in his Democracy Day speech on June 12, 2024, that an executive bill regarding the new national minimum wage would soon be forwarded to the National Assembly for approval.
