The FBI has identified the shooter in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Pennsylvania, US media reported early Sunday.*
An eyewitness to Saturday’s shooting at a Donald Trump rally recounted how a man next to him was fatally shot during the apparent assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate.
“It seemed the victim was in the way of the shots between whoever was shooting the gun and the president,” the witness stated.
Another witness, an emergency doctor who chose to remain unnamed, described his efforts to assist one of the victims.
Former President Trump reported being hit in the ear but stated he was not seriously injured by the gunman, who was killed at the scene.
Two other spectators were critically injured, according to the Secret Service.
