Nigerian table tennis player Omotayo Olajide, a two-time Olympian, faced an early exit from the 2024 Paris Olympics after a 1-4 defeat to Iran’s Noshad Alamiyan in the round of 64 of the men’s singles event.
Olajide began the match with high spirits, securing the first set 11-6. However, Alamiyan quickly turned the tide, taking the next two sets 11-5 and 11-4. In the fourth set, Olajide showed a glimmer of hope, battling hard to recover from his previous setbacks, but ultimately fell short with a 10-12 loss. Alamiyan sealed the match with an 11-8 victory in the final set.
This performance mirrors Olajide’s previous Olympic campaign in Tokyo, where he also exited in the early rounds.
