Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has praised the students and youths of the state for their law-abiding nature and their constructive engagement in voicing discontent. This commendation was made during the inauguration of the Governing Council of the Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology (SKACEST) in Ijebu-Ode, held at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun urged the newly appointed council members to adhere strictly to their oaths of office and to justify the confidence placed in them by both the state government and the people. He emphasized the significant role of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, whose name the institution now bears, in the development of the college, noting his commitment to raising funds for its advancement.
Highlighting the historical importance of SKACEST, previously known as the Ogun State College of Education since its establishment in 1978, Abiodun remarked on its vital contribution to the growth of higher education in Ogun State. The college has been instrumental in the development of teachers for both the state and the nation at large.
Addressing the recent protests by youths, Governor Abiodun assured that their voices have been heard by the government. He called for patience and understanding as the current administration’s economic policies take effect.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Wole Sowole, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to lead the institution. He pledged to work towards achieving the college’s greatness.
The newly inaugurated Governing Council of SKACEST includes Chairman Mr. Wole Sowole, along with members Engr. Femi Omotayo, Reverend Bola Oyeledun, Maj. Gen. Bamidele Matthew Shafa (Rtd), and Prince Kayode Tejuoso.
