Ogun State government has flagged off distribution of the Central Bank of Nigeria/Ogun state government fertilisers to farmers and equally inaugurated the state ad-hoc committee for the initiative.
Inaugurating the committee, governor dapo Abiodun said the occasion is another milestone in the efforts of the current administration at encouraging food production and empowerment of farmers.
Governor dapo abiodun said agriculture is the backbone of the nation’s economy as it provides livelihood and empowerment for the people.
He noted that since the inception of his administration, various interventions have been provided farmers in the state especially subsidized fertilisers, pesticides, seedlings and capacity development.
He said the committee that will be chaired by the Commissioner for agriculture and food security, bolu owotomo is saddled with the responsibility of distributing 24,000 bags of fertilizer to 12,000 farmers in the twenty local government areas in the state to enhance food production.
Commending president Bola Tinubu for the initiative, the governor submitted that the fertilizers provided by the apex bank would assist farmers during the planting season to increase food production.
Abiodun however called on the farmers to justify the efforts of the federal and state government by making proper use of the fertilizers
