Abeokuta, August 13, 2024 — The Ogun State Police Command has paraded 10 suspects arrested for various criminal activities, including kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy. The suspects were apprehended in connection with multiple incidents across Ijebu Igbo and its environs in Ijebu North Local Government Area.
During the press briefing at the state police headquarters in Abeokuta, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, stated that the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution. “These individuals have been involved in heinous crimes that have terrorized residents of Ogun State. We are committed to ensuring they face the full weight of the law,” Alamutu said.
Among those paraded was Chibueze Odah, 41, who was arrested for purchasing a stolen android phone for ₦60,000. The stolen device was tracked and linked back to him, leading to his arrest.
A particularly disturbing case involved Mathias Ifeanyi, 31, who, along with other armed men, allegedly attacked a family in Awa Ijebu on March 12, 2024. The assailants robbed the family and kidnapped the wife, Bolanle Oladokun, who was later killed despite a ransom being paid. Her body was found in a shallow grave at Awa Ijebu.
The police recovered several exhibits, including a blue android phone and three expended cartridges, during the course of their investigations.
Commissioner Alamutu urged the public to continue supporting the police by providing useful information to help reduce crime in the state. He also called on parents and guardians to warn their children against engaging in criminal activities, emphasizing that any criminal act would be met with strict resistance from security agencies.
The Ogun State Police Command remains resolute in its efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.
