The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has assured that the last batch of the Ogun State Teaching Experience and Acquisition Channel (Ogun TEACh) to be recruited in September, 2024 will be posted to rural areas.
Prof. Arigbabu who gave this assurance during the familiarization visit of the Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) lamented the way teachers are rejecting posting to rural communities which have led to the shortage of teaching forces in those areas.
The Commissioner frankling stated that any applicants who will not desire to teach in the rurals should not border to apply at all, saying the replica of Flagship Secondary Schools is coming up in primary with appellations “Iconic Primary Schools” to serve as models for others.
While congratulating and appreciating the new executive members of AOPSHON, Prof. Arigbabu reiterated the commitment of the government towards providing more infrastructural amenities in schools, adding that plans are ongoing to secure schools with recruitment of security guards to further protect lives and properties in schools across the State.
“We are planning to do redistribution of teachers and post more teachers into the rural areas. I also want to assure you that more infrastructure are coming into primary schools to further provide conducive learning environment”, Arigbabu said.
Speaking earlier, the newly elected Chairman of AOPSHON, Comrade Folake Onabajo enumerated the laudable achievement of the government in the education sector to include, up to date promotion of teachers across all grades, regular payment of salaries, among others, promising the cooperation of the association with the government in all areas of needs.
