Residents, businesses, and industries in the Atan, Agbara, and Lusada regions are on the verge of receiving a much-needed infrastructure boost, as the first lane of the 19-kilometre Atan-Agbara road is set for completion in the next two months.
A representative from the construction company handling the project revealed this during an inspection tour. Matthew Sowunmi, who also provided updates on the four-kilometre Alagbole-Ajuwon road project, reported that the construction teams are working tirelessly to ensure the projects are completed on schedule.
Transformation of a Crucial Industrial Corridor
The Atan-Agbara road, which serves as a major link to Ogun State’s industrial hub and a key connection to neighboring regions and countries, has long been a symbol of neglect by previous administrations. However, the road is now undergoing a significant transformation, bringing hope for economic revitalization in the area.
Over the past few months, construction on the first lane has made substantial progress, with several sections completed following the installation of a solid stone base, binding, and wearing course. The project is now in an advanced stage, with the construction company accelerating its efforts to meet the upcoming deadline.
Local Communities Applaud Government Effort
The ongoing work has drawn widespread praise from the local communities, who have expressed their satisfaction with the quality and speed of the construction. The installation of stone bases, kerbs, and drainage systems has particularly impressed residents, who see the project as a long-overdue response to their needs. Many have credited Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration for addressing the road’s long-standing neglect and delivering on its promises.
Progress on Alagbole-Ajuwon Road Also Noted
Meanwhile, significant progress is also being reported on the Alagbole-Ajuwon road, a critical route for residents in the densely populated Ifo Local Government Area, which straddles the border between Ogun and Lagos States. The road had been a major source of frustration for the community, many of whom commute to Lagos for work.
Governor Abiodun’s recent intervention, which included the rapid deployment of contractors to the site, has brought much-needed relief to the area. Residents have expressed their gratitude for the swift action and are optimistic about the project’s timely completion.
Anticipated Completion
The Atan-Agbara road project is being executed in two phases, with the entire project expected to be completed within the next six months. As work continues, the improved road is expected to enhance connectivity, boost economic activity, and improve the quality of life for the affected communities.
