Residents along the recently flagged-off 81.6km of Abeokuta – Ota – Lagos Express Road have commended Ogun State government for its efforts at reconstructing the abandoned road.
The road which cuts across Abeokuta North, Ewekoro, Ifo and Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government Areas of the state, linking Ogun to Lagos State, was awarded by the Federal Government to Craneburg Construction Company through the state government to ease vehicular movement from Abeokuta- Sango Ota-Abule Egba.
Speaking with newsmen on the new development, Baale of Itori, Engr. Isahiah Olayemi, revealed that the road was one of the Trunk A roads in the state, saying when completed, would serve as a catalyst in attracting more investors, thereby promoting the socio-economic and individual prosperity.
Also, the immediate past Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Mrs. Tawakalit Kikelomo, explained that the reconstruction would reduce traffic bottleneck, as it was a major road that traverses many local governments in the state, appreciating the governor for keeping his word.
On his part, a community leader in the area, Chief Babarinde Ademola, lauded Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government for putting smiles on the faces of the people, appealing that the governor should ensure completion of the road in record time.
Another resident, Mrs. Sola Akinbowale, said the intervention would reduce the sufferings of the people, eulogising government’s strides in making roads across the state accessible, particularly at the grassroots, which he noted, would greatly improve their standard of living.
Also speaking, a trader, Mrs. Folajomi Amusan, expressed delight over the infrastructural strides of the government, explaining that she had found it very difficult in the past to access her shop due to the bad road, while a motorist, Mr. Olatunji Aina, said the completion of the road would bring wasted hours being experienced on the road.
