Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed that his administration is committed to ensuring a peaceful co-existence among diverse religious groups that will promote free heart of worship without fear or acrimony
Governor Abiodun made this known during the conferment of the Amir Ul Mulukil Muslimin Fi Bilad (Commander of Muslim Kings) in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states on the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, at his pavilion in Ijebu-Ode.
The Governor noted that mutual respect among all religions and traditional institutions was in line with the rich history of tolerance and unity in diversity, commending leaders of various faiths in the state for their efforts in maintaining peace and fostering interfaith dialogue.
Abiodun, who stated that Oba Adetona embodies the qualities of compassion of wisdom and integrity, added that the title conferred on him was a beacon of unity and peace, commending the Monarch for his zero tolerance, indiscipline and his philanthropic passion.
In his message, the Chairman, Governing Council of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, who described Awujale as a friendly Royal Father, said the title conferment on him was worthwhile, urging the Monarch to work towards ensuring that the law allowing kings to be buried according to their religious beliefs is implemented in Yorubaland and to further promote education through empowerment and building of a Muslim library.
