Teachers have been described as the backbone of educational system because through them learners are inspired, motivated, guided and helped to unlock their full potentials.
The accolades came to fore from the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu during the 2024 Teachers’ Excellence Award Ceremony, organised by Rehoboth Dream Solid Foundation, Chaired by the former Military Administrator of the State, Rare Admiral Oladeinde Joseph, at Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta to honour outstanding teachers, appreciating them for being the highest standards of teaching, mentoring and leadership to students.
Represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, Prof. Arigbabu expressed his gratefulness to the Rehoboth Foundation for making a real difference and significant impact on people, described the Chairman of the foundation for being a shinny example of what it means to serve with purpose and integrity.
” To the awardees, I offer my heartfelt congratulations. Your hard work and commitment to learners’ success have not gone unnoticed. You have demonstrated exceptional instructional practices and we sincerely appreciate you for that”, Arigbabu said.
According to him, the cash awards are into different categories to include, Best Student Awards (male and female) Excellent Teachers’ Award, Best School Administrators and Outstanding Non-Teaching Staff Award, with Mr. Olanrewaju Akintade winning the Best Teachers’ Award.
Appreciating the organisers, the Chairmen, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) Evang. Olalekan Ifede and the State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, represented by the Board Secretary, Dr. Mikhail Lawal noted that the former administrator looking back to honour excellent teachers in the State was a honour well deserved, adding that teachers remain role models and mentor who must be honoured for imparting knowledge into learners for success.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of RDSF, who was also a former Military Administrator in the State, Rare Admiral Oladeinde Joseph (rtd), acknowledged that Ogun State has one of the best literates in Nigeria, saying the generosity was borne out of the passion to give back to the State where he served 34 years ago and to honour teachers because of his teaching background.
Speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Akogun Oluwole Adebayo appreciated the organisers for promoting teachers efficiency over the years and for the unwavering commitment to alleviating poverty through education, enjoining people to be productive in spreading awareness against cardiovascular disease.
In his appreciative note, the Winner of the Award, Mr. Kola Akintade commended the State government for providing enabling environment for teachers to thrive, saying the awards will linger on in his life time.
