Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in conjunction with Works and Infrastructure, has embarked on an enforcement exercise, to pave way for right of way and road expansion.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL. Olatunji Odunlami, while speaking during the exercise in Ijebu-Ode, said the right of way must be respected by property owners to ensure unhindered access to infrastructure.
TPL. Odulami, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Physical Planning Enforcement and Compliance, Mr. Babatunde Olugbewesa, stated that the expansion and upgrading of Awokoya road was part of the present administration’s initiative at improving on existing and new infrastructure across the state.
He noted that removal of some structures along Awokoya road in Ijebu-Ode by the enforcement team was to allow right of way, in an effort to expand the road for more effective use.
“In this case, the expansion of the 430metres Awokoya road is necessary because it is a major road in Ijebu-Ode, and extending the width of the road will improve the economic value of the area, make life more comfortable for commuters and residents alike, and have a scenic environment”, the Commissioner explained.
Responding on behalf of residents, Mr. Olaide Adegbuyi, appreciated government for the intervention, saying it would be of immense benefit to the residents of the area.
