The Ogun State House of Assembly has called on the State Ministry of Environment to begin an immediate enforcement against those who display their wares on roads thereby causing gridlocks in the state.
The state lawmakers made the call, at the Assembly Complex, Abeokuta while Management of the State Ministry of Environment led by the Commissioner, Mr. Ola Oresanya appeared before the members of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Hon. Lamidi Musefiu to defend the 2025 budget proposals of the Ministry.
The House Committee Chairman, joined by his Environment counterpart, Hon. Samsideen Lawal in company of other lawmakers specifically requested that street traders that had encroached on road, under the Kuto flyover bridge and other parts of the state needed to be ward off to allow free flow of traffic and prevent avoidable road accidents while commending the Ministry for its efforts in dredging water ways across the state which had helped in reducing floods in some parts of the state.
The Committee acknowledged the Ministry’s efforts in revenue generation, noting that as at October, it had achieved over 88.90 percent of its expected revenue for the ongoing financial year, adding that the performance reflected a commitment to fiscal responsibility and economic growth, with expectations set for reaching over 100 percent by the end of the year.
Earlier in his presentation, Commissioner for Environment proposed a total budget expenditure of N3.666bn for the next fiscal year, which N2.9bn would go for capital expenses, N754 million would take care of recurrent expenditure.

S. ICT Polytechnic, Itori; Abraham Adesanya ICT Polytechnic, Ijebu- Igbo; Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade and Sikiru Adetona College of Science and Technology, Omu- Ijebu amongst others.
