Residents of Awokoya and Igbeba, Talbot Road in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, have applauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for embarking on road infrastructure that will improve the socio-economic well-being of the people.
A senior lecturer at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Dr. Odizuru Iteogu, said Igbeba road was one of the major roads in Ijebu-Ode that is currently receiving government attention, explaining that when completed, it would reduce the sufferings of the people, improve their standard of living and economic activities of the area.
Also speaking, a trader Mrs. Afolashade Ogunkoya, commended the government for the ongoing road construction, saying daily business activities had long suffer low patronage due to the bad condition of the road but optimistic that things would turn around for good, when the road would be completed.
In their remarks, a commercial tricycle and vehicle driver, Mr. Adetayo Iyunafe and Mr. Tunde Ogundele, respectively, maintained that the roads would make the movement for both humans and commodities faster, convenient and prevent unnecessary waste of productive hours, commending the government for embarking on the reconstruction of the road.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, said government would continue to improve on the socio-economic well-being of the people, particularly through road construction and rehabilitation that would create direct and indirect job opportunities for the people. He appreciated the present administration for the positive turnaround of the road not only in Ijebu-Ode but also across the State.
Speaking, the project manager Forth-Harmon Construction, Engr. Abdullah Tijani, revealed that the government had provided all the necessary materials and logistics to effectively carry out the road reconstruction as designed, highlighting some of the features of the roads to include culverts, binders, and bombs, among others, promising to deliver the project at the stipulated time.
