OGUN COMMISSIONER CALLS FOR COLLECTIVE INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION SECTOR

A call has been made to all and sundry to join hands with the government towards securing the lives of the future generation by giving them standardised and qualitative education.

Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, made the call during the Commissioning and Handing-Over of Two Blocks of Six Classrooms at Ansarudeen Primary School I, Ayetoro, built through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, facilitated by the Member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Hon. Gboyega Isiaka.

The Commissioner stated that the donation was to compliment several innovations of the government such as, distribution of furniture, rehabilitation of over 1,500 classrooms, prompt payment of teachers’ salary and up to date promotion exercise for all teachers which were all geared towards promoting high standards of teaching and learning.

Prof. Arigbabu noted that if others could contribute like the Old Student Associations in schools across the State and Hon. Isiaka, the problem facing the sector would soon be surmounted, noting that government alone could not fund education.

Arigbabu acknowledged the passion being exhibited by the facilitator in attracting laudable projects into the State, especially in the area of education, saying the best way to show appreciation was when the teachers and learners use the buildings responsibly.

” Presently, we are compiling list of schools to get more buildings to tackle the challenges of overpopulation,” he noted.

In his address, the facilitator of the projects, Hon. Gboyega Isiaka described Prince Dapo Abiodun as performing Governor in all facets, appreciating the people for the opportunity to represent them at the lower chamber, admonishing that the projects should be used for the advantage of the pupils.

Speaking, the Chairman of Yewa North Local Government Area, Dr. Samuel Akinbode noted that, the donation was another landmark achievement in the history of the school, urging them to maintain it well.

Senior Girl of the school, Oyinkansola Ogundimu, appreciated the donors on behalf of other pupils, referring to the donation as great things happening to them as learners.
