No fewer than 1,000 residents in Iju zone of Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State will benefit from the Adire/Kampala training programme, organised by the local government, in partnership with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), towards empowering the people and contributing to the socio-economic development of the nation.
The Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Dr. Olusola Akinbode, disclosed this during the flag-off of the training programme, at First Baptist Church, Oju-Atan, Igbogila, saying another of such training programme would soon be held at Ketu area of the council.
Dr. Akinbode pledged his administration would ensure an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the council and complement State government’s efforts, enjoining residents to take advantage of the opportunity to be self-reliant and employers of labour.
In his speech, the CAN Chairman, Iju Zone, Bishop Stephen Olayinwola, explained that the initiative aimed at improving the living standard of the people through vocational training.
In their separate responses on behalf of the trainees, Adeola Agboola and Adegboyega Adejoke, appreciated the local government for organising the programme which would enable the people to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the council, in tandem with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s ISEYA mantra, just as they noted that the programmes would improve their livelihood.
