Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has charged monarchs in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the State to put measures in place, in order to curb land-grabbing and wanton allocation of lands in their domain.
This charge was given at the Installation and Presentation of Instruments of Office to Coronet Oba of Alagbede of Oke-Agbede Kingdom, Oba Pascal Olorode, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the State.
Governor Abiodun, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Razak Daddah, said no monarch should be found indulging in unedifying acts, as the Land Grabbing Prohibition Law in Ogun State was firm.
“Kabiyesi Alayeluwa, it is important to note that more than ever before, you should continue to champion all efforts that can enhance peaceful co-existence with other royal fathers in Yewaland, in order to justify the mandate and trust reposed in you by the Ogun State Government and the people of Oke-Agbede”, he added.
The State’s helmsman rejoiced with the good people of Oke-Agbede and its environs on the memorable occasion, saying the installation was a landmark event in the annals of the history of Oke-Agbede land.
In his goodwill message, Olu-Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, represented by the Oni Imeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite, enjoined the new Oba to work as the representative of God in Oke-Agbede community, while appealing to the people of the land to rally round the Oba for the advancement of the land.
Earlier, Chairman Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Hon. Aremu Olorode, in his address, said traditional rulers remain stakeholders in governance. According to him, peace, security and development were indicators of quality leadership which must not be compromised, promising to work closely with the Oba for the development of the communities.
In his acceptance speech, the Alagbede of Oke-Agbede, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the honour bestowed on him, appreciating Oba Olugbenle for his support and pledged to lead with integrity.
He called on the sons and daughters of Oke-Agbede, home and in the Diaspora, to contribute their quota for the progress of the community.
Other dignitaries present at the event were, Chairman, House Committee, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Jemili Akingbade, members of Yewa Council of Chiefs and royal fathers.
