Ogun State Government has raised concerns over the safety of commuters and pedestrians along Magboro Road on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, calling for the immediate removal of roadside traders obstructing the pedestrian walkways.
The State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure revealed that traders have encroached on designated walkways, turning them into makeshift markets and disrupting the free movement of pedestrians, motorists as well as traders thereby putting their lives at risk of accidents.
To avert such ugly trend, the Ministry is synergising with Ministry of Environment, reaffirming to coordinate enforcement efforts with other concerned agencies of government towards arresting the situation.
The Permanent Secretary, Engr. Dr. Lateef Yusuf, stressed the importance of restoring order and ensuring that the pedestrian pathways serve their intended purpose in order to safeguard public safety and maintain order.
