Staffers in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, have been charged to position themselves for improved productivity in today’s dynamic work environment for the advancement of the public service.
Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat represented by his Permanent Secretary, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, gave the charge at the In-house Training themed; “Improving Productivity For Enhanced Service Delivery In The Ogun State public service”, organised for Executive and Clerical Officers of the Ministry, at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
“You will recall that last year, a good number of our staff were sponsored to the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) for training on relevant courses, to enhance their performances, we know that the success of our Ministry is inseparably linked to the competence of our staff,” he said.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, said training was a tradition of the Ministry and an investment for staff efficiency, adding that there would always be something new to learn.
In their separate lectures, the duo of Mr. Akinfaye Oluwasegun and Mr. Shofulubi Tunde from Ogun State Internal Revenue Services, and the Bureau of Public Service Reforms respectively, dwelled on Work Ethics, Discipline, and Record keeping in Public Service, emphasising adherence to public service rules and its regulations.
Two of the participants, Salako Gbenga and Obanla James expressed gratitude to the State government for the initiative, saying the training was impactful and knowledge gained would reflect in their productivity.
Highlight of the training was the presentation of Certificate to the 47 participants who cut across different departments in the Ministry.
