Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, has revealed that Ogun State Government is committed to the total overhaul and development of sports and sporting facilities in the State.

The Commissioner made this known while fielding questions from journalists, shortly after inspecting the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.

He noted that the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration was not developing one sector at the expense of another, saying the State Government’s focus had shifted to developing the massive sports facilities available in the State, after the successful hosting of the recently concluded National Sports Festival.

Isiaka reaffirmed that the current administration’s pledge to the people of the State to take sports development to the grassroots would be fulfilled, submitting that due to the high number of higher institutions in the State, Ogun had the highest number of youth conglomerate in the country, hence the development of facilities around the State.

“This inspection is part of government policy of total development of sports facilities, due to the focus and developmental agenda of this government, hence, reason we are overhauling it. The Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, Muda Lawal Stadium, Asero will also get a face lift.

“We have seen the swimming pool, the basketball, volleyball and tennis courts. We want to make sure we put everything in place so that the focus and the mission of government will be met,” he said.

The Commissioner further revealed at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, that the number of proposals from investors willing to partner with the State government was enormous, describing it as impressive, saying the current administration was leaving no facility behind in the total development of Sports.
