he Ogun West senatorial district has commenced the Federal Government’s initiative to provide free eye treatment and glasses to no fewer than 1000 residents.
The Clinical Coordinator, Primary Eye Care. (OGPHCB), Mrs. Olushola Enilolobo, made this declaration during a 3 day training and practical exercise in Ado-Odo/Ota.
The initiative’s primary goal was to provide free eye tests, eye drops and glasses to residents in the senatorial district that comprises Ado-Odo/Ota, Imeko Afon, Yewa South, Yewa North and Ipokia Local Government Areas.
Mrs. Enilolobo, noted that a lot of people in the society had minor eye issues that could be corrected with eye drops and glasses, but lack of access to these resources had worsened the problems.
Speaking, Community Mobiliser, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Chief Adeyinka Aremu, stated that the exercise, which was ongoing at the 3 accredited Primary Health Centres in Ota, Sango and Ijoko. He added that 100 residents would be attended to daily, with a total of 1000 residents expected to benefit from the initiative, adding that well-meaning Nigerians should emulate the gesture and give back to their communities, saying that government cannot do it alone.
Reacting, some of the beneficiaries, Evang. David Omolola and Mr. Olatunbosun Ariyo, commended the Federal Government’s efforts in collaboration with the State and Local Governments noting that the glasses, which would normally cost N35, 000 would be a huge relief to them.
