As part of the efforts to reduce the number of out of school children across the States of the Federation, the Federal Government has flagged off an advocacy programme, themed: Revitalisation of Out of School Children in Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State.
The advocacy programme, which was part of the intervention put in place by the National Commission for Almajiris and Out of School Children Education (NCAOOSCE) in collaboration with the Ogun State Government at Oronna Town hall, Ilaro.
Speaking at the flag off, Chairman, NCAOOSCE Dr. Sanwo Olatunji said the programme was targeted at addressing and up scaling efforts towards reducing the numbers of out of school children in the country, while adding that it was aimed at providing an all inclusive education and vocational skills development for the personal growth, economic empowerment employment which served as a precursor that aligns with the Federal government National Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals_4
Dr. Sanwo applauded the present administration under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun for his support towards the success of the programme, particularly the opportunity provided to share the Commission’s mandate,
He noted that Ogun State was in the forefront providing both educational and industrial development, stating that the State was the first to be selected in its pilot phase of the Advocacy programme.
He maintained that the Federal Government was working closely with State to curb the issue out of school children, imploring the people of the area to give support towards the success of the programme at the grassroots, just as he hinted that the Commission had laid down viable structures that would capture and enroll them to schools in the State.
Earlier, Chairman, Yewa South Local Government, Barrister Abraham Ogunsola acknowledged the efforts of the Governor geared towards repositioning the State education sector, noting that education remains an instrument of developmental change in the society, hence the need to be embraced by all.
The LG boss implored residents to support the Advocacy programme, assuring a robust synergy between the community and Government.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, who was represented by the Zonal Education Officer Mrs. Titi Oteshile enumerated the giant strides of the present administration towards ensuring free and affordable education to all children across the State.
In their separate remarks at the event, Iyaloja of Sayedero market, Mrs. Risikat ldowu ,implored the people to embrace the advocacy programme, saying global education had contributed to different innovation in the society which had yielded positive results.
Speaking with some of the beneficiaries of the out of school children, Master Ifeoluwa Abagbola from Idogo and Miss Ogundele Alaba from Ipaja axis of Yewa South Local Government Area appreciated the government for enrolling them back to school and promised to pay attention to their studies.
