The Ogun state governor and chairman of the southern governors’ forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed delight over the release of the remaining one hundred and thirty students of St. Mary’s Catholic school, Papiri community, Niger state, who were abducted by kidnappers. Governor Abiodun described the development as heartwarming, noting that it follows the earlier release of one hundred students this month, bringing the total number of rescued students to two hundred and thirty. He said the successful rescue affirms that evil will not prevail over Nigeria. The governor stated that the release of the students fulfills the pledge made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure their safe rescue and reunification with their families without any harm. Commending the president for the security measures implemented across the country, Abiodun noted that the sustained release of abducted persons is gradually restoring public confidence in governance and national security. He cited the recent rescue of twenty-four abductees in Kebbi state, one hundred students from a catholic school in Niger state, and christian worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara state, as clear evidence of the federal government’s commitment and capacity to confront Nigeria’s security challenges head-on. In a statement issued in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun expressed joy that the rescued students and their parents would now be able to celebrate the yuletide season together after undergoing a traumatic ordeal. He also urged security agencies to ensure that all those responsible for the abductions are tracked down and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
